THE MARCH TOWARD OBLIVION

By: Anwer Kadri

(THIS IS A PAKPOTPOURRI EXCLUSIVE)

The announcement by the US administration of troop withdrawal from Iraq brings about the end of an ill conceived ,poorly planned and badly executed adventure in Iraq costing the US, billions of dollars and nearly over four thousand young dynamic and vibrant American lives. It was one of those fancifully philosophic baby of the mind of an unbalanced George Bush at the helm of affairs in the White House assisted by his ill reputed “Texan Gang” of Cheney R.Ashcroft and General Powell ,later, by Rice, as sanity prevailed on the four star general who had been led to oblivion by his supreme commander by being his master’s voice. There was the second and third round of US leadership out to get their pound of flesh from the carcass of the huanted Iraq. The financial benefits gained by investing the billions of dollars of the American taxpayer’s money and the thousands of gallons of spilled blood of the dynamic and patriotic Americans and innocent men ,women and children of Iraq is something that the people of America should be looking into.

The only positive sign that surprised the rest of the world was the stand taken by the “now pliant”  United Nations for not endorsing the American aggression in Iraq, hence, forcing the US to form a coalition of the willing  poodles and lackeys in the world to help them invade Iraq on the pretext that Iraq was a threat to world peace because it was amassing weapons of mass destruction along with chemicals and biological weapons contrary to the findings of the United Nations. Never before in the history of the United States the Congress and Senate had been blackmailed and held hostage into ratifying the action of greedy US leadership. The American  had lost the war just by starting it. The irony of the situation is that the US and UK had declared that Iraq  and the reason for their authenticity of the claim lay in the fact that it was both the US and UK that supplied them the WMDs and technology to prevent Iraq from losing the war to Khumaini’s  Iran. It was  Donald Rumsfield who embraced Hussein and proclaimed “He is the Mujahid of Islam”. A beautiful photograph of this was published in the Newsweek in December 1983. Ironically it was the same Donald Rumsfield who as Secretary Defense later planned the invasion that toppled Saddam.

The cost in terms of dollars and human life in a conflict of this kind and magnitude the figures are often disputed but if we calculate from the periodic casualty report from different sources they following numbers cannot be dispute for the United States till July 2010:

U.S. combat deaths over 4,400

U.S. wounded: over 31,000

Iraqi civilians killed will probably never accurately be reported but for the entire duration of the war that numbers into the hundreds of thousands does not seem an exaggeration. In addition there are Iraqi military and coalition military deaths and injuries in the tens of thousands. The interesting aspect of this turmoil was probably not noticed by most of the Americans who matter or they found it convenient to ignore it. Whether it was 9/11 or Iraq or Hamas or Hezbollah it is basically Arabs and the other Muslims who joined the Arabs was in reaction to the excesses committed on the Arabs by Israel with the complete backing and support of the US. The US has been funding Israel for over 40 years and the military hardware that Israel uses is another burden on the American tax payers

If the Americans do not do some soul searching I think they should get ready to pay with the blood of the American people the interest of Israel. Let us go back to the beginning for a while, why was Iraq singled out for attack although no link could be found between Iraq and Al Qaeda . Rice, in an official address, later stated ,it was an action based on “bad intelligence”.

The furor over WMDS and the purchase of Uranium  turned out to be concocted. In my opinion a very big reason for the Iraqi invasion was to get the control of Iraqi oil and keep it on ground to escalate the price. Again the neon cons like Wolfowitz and his supporters were interested in putting up American bases in Iraq from where they could regulate oil supply but more importantly remove any threat posed to the state of Israel. For some time Iraq started accepting the payments of oil in Euros and if this was allowed to continue then Euro would probably become the world reserve currency and not dollars. This could have a negative impact in the US economy and could even cause its collapse in the long run.  Therefore with the control of Iraq’s oil the US could, thereby maintain the dollar as the reserve currency.

I quote Stephen J. Sniegoski, “The American Conservative criticizing the rationale for the projected U.S. attack on Iraq, the veteran diplomatic historian Paul W. Schroeder noted (only in passing) “What is possibly the unacknowledged real reason and motive behind the policy — security for Israel.” If Israel’s security were indeed the real American motive for war, Schroeder wrote, “It would represent something to my knowledge unique in history. It is common for great powers to try to fight wars by proxy, getting smaller powers to fight for their interests. This would be the first instance I know where a great power (in fact, a superpower) would do the fighting as the proxy of a small client state.” Unquote.

The suggestion that the war with Iraq is being planned at Israel’s behest, or at the instigation of policy makers whose main motivation is trying to create a secure environment for Israel, is strong. Many Israeli analysts believe this. The Israeli commentator Akiva Aldar recently observed frankly in a Ha’aretz column that Richard Perle, Douglas Feith, and their fellow strategists “are walking a fine line between their loyalty to American governments and Israeli interests.” The suggestion of dual loyalties is not a verboten subject in the Israeli press, as it is in the United States. Peace activist Uri Avery, who knows Israeli Prime Minister Sharon well, has written that Sharon has long planned grandiose schemes for restructuring the Middle East and that “the winds blowing now in Washington remind me of Sharon. I have absolutely no proof that the Bushies got their ideas from him. But the style is the same.”

Does it need any kind of super intelligence to see where the Israelis are driving the Americans to protect their interest but they are building up relation of hate retribution and vendetta in the Arab world in particular and Muslim world in general against the American people?

I leave this for the readers to determine.

The decision to invade Iraq was taken by the US and UK first; the justification for this unjust war was manipulated. As gleaned from subsequent remarks of Bush/Blair that they were driven by divine order to degrade Islam and the Muslims world wide. The access to wealth to the manipulaters was a bonus. But that also was tremendous benefit to them. The UN could do nothing to stop this injustice. The loss of life of the invading forces was their folly but there is no compenasation for the cold blooded murder, humiliartion, undscribable inhuman treatment and torture of the people and its destruction Iraq. The torture was intentional and planned to show the world how worthless were the Muslims.
They murdered more than million men , women and children. The death of children due to lack of medicines due to sanction was declared as minor matter by Albright.

Unless there is change in the thinking of the Western and an effort is made for contolling the newnatzis this clash of civilisation started by them will continue with unimaginable consequences for life on earth.

Blood letting in Afghanistan continues what they will do next is question hanging over humanity.

      Dear Admiral Sirohey
There is a difference between the American people & the American government.I completely agree with you in your statement that AMERICAN THINKING OF POLICY MAKERS MUST CHANGE. This negative thinking is leading not only the World but America TOO, towards destruction.

  • naveed tajammal  On August 22, 2010 at 7:12 am

I fully agree with the fact, that, the American policy makers a class apart, then the average in majority Americans who have been unwittingly drawn in a quagmire and are paying for the folly, of its ,small leadership, and the racketeers who run these international wars.

“Does it need any kind of super intelligence to see where the Israelis are driving the Americans to protect their interest but they are building up relation of hate retribution and vendetta in the Arab world in particular and Muslim world in general against the American people?” This is the real question and heart of the matter. With all the intelligence and general agreement on the analyses: who has done what? and where is the first step?
I have now read and heard many interesting and insightful ways of this article by many different people. But like I said: where do you pick up the thread and where will it lead once it starts unraveling? Are we the supporters for Peace ready for the reality ride when we find out all the good guys involved in perpetuating armed conflict/war. Another question of mine: Is it now about States/governments or being a borderless world is it not more about MNCs and cartels and their private armies with Presidents as their kosher face?

Peace Activists around the world need to unite as the criminals have done. We now need to come together and begin the journey of a 1000 miles for Peace and Sanity

  • Inam Khan  On August 22, 2010 at 8:26 am

All this has happened because of American votes bagging.US Congessmen and Senators’ election largely depends on Jewish contributions and favourible press. So Israel has a jugular hold on American Politics.Even Obama cannot afford to annoy Ameican Jews. For foreseable future American Policies wd remain pro-Israel.

  • Syed Ataur Rahman  On August 22, 2010 at 10:48 am

It may be Mr Anwer Qadri’s first article but he has written well and condensed the American sins and rightly brought out their high handedness for murdering a perfectly developing nation Iraq for the ‘gangs’ and not American motives. Will no one question these murderers? And they do the same in Afghanistan and much worst in Pakistan. But then they are the sole super power, so who can challenge their deadly and murderous ways? I think another super power exists and it is HIM who will bring justice. American downfall has started.
I must congratulate Mr Qadri for bringing out so concisely what the US has done to the world. He like other brave writers will show the US government a mirrored picture of their follies.

  • Jonathan Mark  On August 22, 2010 at 12:28 pm

The coup d’etat of the US government has been on a steady incline. It is difficult to know where it began. The Lincoln assassination was a coup, as well as the Supreme Court being manipulated to give Corporations human rights under the law. The in 1913 Woodrow Wilson was placed into the US president office mainly to create the Federal Reserve and hijack the US economy into developing a world economy and banking system. This entitled international bankers to make dark profits in world wars no matter who won. The JFK assassination made sure that the policy directions of the elitists’ wars continue, as well as enabling financial corruption, government black operations and drug trafficking, and arms deals and other attacks on sovereign nations.

But in all these discussions about the war in Iraq, what really enabled it to happen was not the false reasoning of weapons of mass destruction, but the emotional mind-media -controlling events of the 9/11 coup d’etat demolitions of the World Trade Center buildings. Creating the 9/11 myth was crucial for the neocons to do their dirty work and kill millions while raiding international finances and energy resources.

This is the main reason that Flyby News, a web site first dedicated in stopping the arms race and nuclear power in space, has turned its focus on those criminal acts that has reduced forensic science to political spin.. and deep outright lies. The policies that began after the 9/11/01 crimes will only stop when that lie is revealed.. which is so often neglected in understanding such policies of madmen and betrayers of our world and sovereign nations.

Article by Mr Anwer Kadri is well researched. I fully agree with him. Now as regards withdrawal of American troops from Iraq it is the second defeat of US. America’s first defeat was withdrawal of its troops from Vietnam nearly two decades ago. They used their maximum force and brutal attacks both by air force and land forces but miserably failed. The American’s strategy in Vietnam was to crush Vietnamese to the extent of completely wiping out their race from Vietnam. The famous Tet offensive by Vietcongs in Vietnam had actually broken the backbone of US Forces.

Americans now wants to change their battle field and heading slowly towards Iran now. Afghanistan is already in their grip but US is now getting fed up and convinced that neither US nor NATO Forces will never be able to succeed in subduing Taliban . They are trying their best to pounce on Pakistan’s Nuclear weapons. Because Pakistan is the only Muslim country in the world which is Nuclear armed. But US will face the same fate as they faced in Vietnam and Iraq.

  • Arif Khan  On August 22, 2010 at 5:38 pm

The Original intention of Bush was to remove this Crazy Saddam Hussain, and replace him with a Democratically elected leader???BIG MISTAKE, No Muslim Country is ready for Democracy as most only work well with a Strong Dictator I.E UAE, Kuwait;Saudi Arabia, Jordan and Egypt…. Iraqis are Not ready for Democracy as most Pakistanis Who need a Strong “DUNDA” Islam and Democracy are not Compatable…. So I am Glad they left as “You can take a horse to the water , but cannot make him drink” There will be another Saddam Hussain like Abul Salam Arif who will kill a million Iraqis and then settle that Place down like Dubai…. USA completely UNDERESTIMATED the Psyche of an Arab…….and suffered…Killing of 4400 Americans ais nothing compared to 18,000 Americans who die every year in Traffic accidents……….Arif Kahn

  • Jamil Zaidi  On August 22, 2010 at 6:18 pm

Obviously the ill conceived p;an of half-mad Bush cost US Treasury an immeasurable loss apart from the lives of US soldiers & Iraqis were lost during the war. The same mistake is being repeated in Afghanistan when the British left a lesson during their 100 years tenure of Governing India. In cosequence the US$ is hitting all time low.

  • haroon  On August 22, 2010 at 8:27 pm

Every “friend” of the US became an enemy and were executed. The question that is continuosly asked is:”Where do the Muslims fit into this big picture?”Right now press reports indicate that relief efforts and funds are slow in coming because of Pakistan’s so called terror and corruption!Iran seems to be the only “force” to reckon with!

  • NADIA  On August 22, 2010 at 10:27 pm

  • zubair  On August 23, 2010 at 2:05 pm

I don’t think the assault on the Muslim world was Bush’s brainchild. Yes the aim is to humiliate Islam and take control of Islamic economy. The entire campaign points to the Corporate America. In America they have legalized bribery and call it campaign donations. The big corporations, specially the defense Industry are the biggest donors and such call the shots. In he end it is the Americana tax payer who suffers and we the Muslims are at the receiving end. I believe a vast majority of American citizens are innocent of what really is going on. They are fed what the Govt wants them to know. Since media is under govt (actually Pentagon) control, the people never know what is going on. The Corporations/Pentagon are really ruling over America and the want to expand their rule to the entire world. Death of a few thousand American troops is peanuts if you consider the billions made by the men and women in power AND the fact the they have butchered millions of innocent Muslims. The story is the same all over——-it is money that encourages all to do what they do.
    Zubair

    • anwer kadri  On August 23, 2010 at 9:11 pm

agreed Zubair that money greed lust for power is always the motive but dont forget for even one minute what the first remark Bush made which he had to cover up at the insistence of Europe. He was declaring crusades and crusades is not exactly a corporate affair ….however i shalfor one minute not doubt the inbuilt hate the neocons have against the muslims.

  • arshad  On August 23, 2010 at 7:14 pm

Good effort sir , keep writing and show the true face of super power .

  • anwer kadri  On August 24, 2010 at 12:43 pm

Well all said and done the deadline of the american troops withdrawal approaching fast and the 50,000 remaining troops changing function from combat to support, the rift between the US administration and military beginning to show and the shiver in the pants of the Iraqi chief of Staff apparent, I would not be too sure all is well but what is yet to be seen is whether this is a shift for the US from the fire to the fry pan. The melodrama awaiting Iraq is another story but that is between Iraqis so its no concern of ours but the international meddling of the trigger happy “Billy the kid” is what draws my attention.

  • Omar Ahmad  On August 25, 2010 at 4:31 am

Actually, I disagree, what happens in Iraq is a concern for us, here in Pakistan and for all Muslims worldwide. It is precisely this ‘I’m all right Jack’ attitude as to how these elitists have managed to divide and conquer us throughout history. We need to get it together and learn from the lessons history keeps painfully teaching us, otherwise we are playing into the Zionists hands; after all, it is actually the zionists who are controlling US / UK and the one world Government plan which is now in full swing heading towards their end game . . .

    • anwer kadri  On August 25, 2010 at 7:26 am

I could not agree more with you Omar but unfortunately all the 58 countries despite OIC mean nothing because they are all toeing the lines of the zionists so it is imperative that we start from ourselves first and then see where can we move upto. The basica thing needed is a general reawakening of the muslims and to analyse the zionist plans because at the end of the day it would be the people that would count and not the elitist.

    • anwer kadri  On August 25, 2010 at 7:31 am

I could not agree more with you Omar…..the basic purpose of this article was to get the people thinking and your disagreement shows that you are so the article has served its purpose……there cannot be a total agreement on anything unless its a universal truth therefore keep thinking and when you get the time share your thought.

  • Brig Jehanzeb  On August 25, 2010 at 10:24 am

A very confused assessment of US involvement in Iraq.US strategic ambitions stand supreme over all others and scenarios are built to prepare for intervention and military strikes.Israeli and US interests coincide over the Middle East affairs and common threats like Iraq and Iran are prominent amongst them.
The arming and building up the war potential of Iraq by US and European proteges for a strike at Iran is a classic example, where Iraq was their “so called”partner though transient.Once the Iraq -Iran resulted in the degradation of the war potential capabilities of both antagonists, Iraq emerged as a potential threat to the Royal Kingdoms of the ME, and indirectly to Israel. Resultantly, the build up of the hysteria of WMD and persecution of minorities and Kurds assumed front place at world forums. The subsequent liberation of Kuwait and than the Iraqi invasion were pieces of the same strategy.Saddams execution and the resultant oil deals flowed gradually for the benefit of US and western nations.
Today, Afghanistan is a transient target to achieve greater penetration into Pakistan where the threat of Islamic fundamentalism and nuclear blackmail is the greatest. While in Afghanistan the US has options of striking Iran or giving a nod to Israel to strike at Iranian Nuclear Sites. This strategic geo political location allows the US with multiple options.
So, simply put, it was not 9/11 or Osama which prompted the US to occupy Afghanistan but a greater strategic role envisioned for Iran and Pakistan.Call it the “Great Game II” where US and India will dominate South Asia againgst Chinese inroads and presence in a region of Indian influence.

    With Best Regards & Wishes

Interesting comment coming directly from someone who can be taken as an authority on the subject but in my humble opinion who has been following the American support for the Israelis since the 1967 war with the Arabs and the continous budgetry and military support that Israel gets at the hands of the US and the fact that more than 50% of the vetos exercised by the US in the UN was to protect Israel it hardly is anybody’s guess that Americans are out to protect Israeli interest with more vigour than they probably do their own. I am no military strategist sitting in the Command centre playing war games but someone who reads, analyses refers back to history and draws conclusion based on the available facts, therefore dear Brig.I am very clear in my mind as to what the Americans in the civies are thinking and trying to do, we can discuss Afghanistan when we come to it but I fully agree that the American move in Afghanistan is for the purpose of neutralising Pakistan containing China and Iran as their major objectives alongwith others. However experience shows that America has screwed up wherever it went so any adventure in Iran Pakistan or China is bound to be no different obviously with disasterous consequences for everyone in the region as well as America and Isreal.
I sincerely thank you for your enlightening comment. Do keep adding to our knowledge on the subject whenever you get the time.
